She Drew The Gun

Louisa Roach is perhaps even more fed-up with the state of the world than the rest of us are. She is also doing something about it, which for sure is more than most of us can say. She writes about injustice and lies, singing in a clear, bright way that almost makes you think she is another pop star. The lyrics tell us a lot more though:

Oppose the flow, or take the role
They’re only asking for your body and soul
And your mind is not your own
Until you comprehend their forms of control

— Resistor lyrics

She Drew The Gun, from Liverpool,  broke out at Glastonbury in 2016 winning a slot on the big stage. Two albums later (Revolution of Mind, Memories of Another Future), they are delivering tracks that make you look around and see what’s really going on. They have a lot to say. They call themselves a psychedelic pop band, feels like indie with some ghostly slide guitar riffs, maybe REM or Talking Heads with a bad attitude. The tunes have great beats sometimes fast, playful sometimes, but always circling back to the haunting punch lines that tug at the emptiness and confusion that surround us.  Red pill 100%.  It should be a good show at the Electric Ballroom.
