George Clinton Brings Block Party to Camden
In Camden we are spoiled for music legends coming to our venues. All the greats pass by at one time or another. 23 May we had the amazing visit of George Clinton and his Parliament Funkadelic crew. Clinton at near 81 is on a farewell tour, presiding over what they call the 5th Generation P-Funk. He was meant to retire a few years back, but fantastic that he didn’t.
George Clinton – commander-in-chief of Funk at the Kentish Town Forum
A massive stage full of dynamic performers!
From the minute they stepped on stage the music keep rolling until after the curfew. The sound was epic, sprawling and full of improv moments. The focus shifted wildly across the massive set of band members. Probably the venue had to borrow a few mic stands to accomodate all the singers. It was all you could hope for from a man who carried the funk torch for so many years and is still eager to keep it burning. Amazing show in the grunged-out, always cool Kentish Town Forum.
