The Vone is a cinematic rock band with soaring melodies, pulsating drums and bags of character. Recorded with Tom Hill at the best kept secret in London – The Bookhouse Studio – The Vone, a hotchpotch of English, Polish and Brazilian musicians fronted by Marcelo Cervone bring all their flavours to the music. Meet The Vone during our interview!
1) How did you get into music?
Well music is life isn’t it? So, who isn’t into music!
My great-grandad is a guitarist and he got me into music, I learned a lot from him. He’s still rockin’ in Brazil by the way!
2) What bands inspired your style and how do you differ to your roots?
The top three bands that influenced our style are The Foo Fighters, Muse and Biffy Clyro. We are the perfect mixture of all three of them, and then we sprinkle a little bit of jazz influence as I’m a trained saxophonist in jazz, sprinkle a little Brazilian grassroots bossanova and that’s how we differ from your standard, alternative prog rock.
3) What would you say thrills your soul?
Everything! But music especially!
4) If you were to get stuck on a lonely Island, which would be the 3 albums you’ll take with you?
Biffy Clyro: ‘Opposites’, thats a double album which is a cheat but I’ll still give it to you. Next would be Foo Fighters: ‘Wasting Lights’, for when I’m feeling angry about being stuck on a lonely island. Last would be ‘Stan Getz – Greatest Hits’ for when I’m feeling moody, I might have lit a pyro and found some pirate rum under a coconut tree that was from a shipwreck hundreds of years ago, I’m breaking out the rum and listening to some Stan Getz!
5) Beatles Vs Stones?
Beatles… I just hate the way the Stones recorded, I’m going to get so much slack for saying that!
6) Do you believe in aliens?
Obviously! Who doesn’t?!
