Meet Belle Dame, an amazing band playing with us on our next show on Friday 22/09 at Camden Club! Don’t miss them!

Belle Dame is an exciting Alternative-Indie outfit hailing from Southampton. Characterised by infectious melodies and intricate rhythmic interplay their sound revitalises the genre.

Their cultural influences and experience living in the UK has led them to write introspective lyrics, capturing the complexities of modern life.

The band’s dynamic live performances are a must-see, showcasing their energetic stage presence and an unbridled passion for their craft.

Formed in 2021, this multi-national group consists of Edd Moreira, bassist Liam Pereira and guitarist Flynn Forgeau, all of whom are singers in the band. Drummer Maddie Hackett joined the band in May 2023.

Meet Belle Dame during our interview!

1) How did you get into music?

We all met at University.

Eduardo: Music was always a part of my life, even when I was a baby I wouldn’t stop singing and listening to it.

My Dad had his own projects and bands where I would attend his rehearsals and concerts. When I turned 9 I taught myself how to play the guitar. The rest is history.

Flynn: I started piano lessons when I was 10. When I was fourteen I attended a rehearsal my dad’s cover band and it inspired me to pick up the guitar. I played in a few band’s one of which was the Jazz band in college.

Liam:I was always into music, ever since my childhood days. It was and still is the best way to understand and cope with feelings.

2) What bands inspired your style and how do you differ to your roots?

Cage The Elephant, The Strokes, Interpol, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire. Our international diversity is where we split off from these bands. They are American and we are European.

Eduardo: I’m from Porto, Portugal.

Flynn: I’m half French half Welsh.

Liam: I’m half Madeiran Portuguese half English from Jersey. Some of my favourite artists are Beach house, grouper, joji, System of a Down, crystal castles and tame impala.

Maddie: I’m from Preston in Northern England.

3) What would you say thrills your soul?

Thrills!

Eduardo: Listeningto your own song after completion or being sung by someone else, has to be some of the best feelings ever.

Flynn: Performing is such a thrilling feeling for me. As well as live music I have a soft spot for Musical theatre and drama.

Liam: Chasing and understanding my own feelings. Sometimes I like feeling alive artificially while other times I find peace with myself by accepting and appreciating life.

4) If you were to get stuck on a lonely Island, which would be the 3 albums you’ll take with you?

Eduardo: Melophobia by Cage The Elephant, The Subburbs by Arcade Fire, Dark Side of The Moon by Pink Floyd

Flynn: Wasteland Baby by Hozier, Drones by Muse, Grace by Jeff Buckley. The guitar parts, vocals and music production value are the key aspects for me.

Liam: I would bring Ruins by Grouper, Depression Cherry by Beach House and Crystal Castles (II) by Crystal castles.

5) Beatles Vs Stones?

Eduardo: Pink Floyd. Although I respect both bands immensely. Their songs/sound doesn’t really get hooked on their music.

Flynn: Beatles. I know more songs by them and I value their creative songwriting more than that of the strokes.

Liam: It’s a really hard question but I got to go for the Beatles, I have so many pleasant memories with my grandma. She loves them.

6) Do you believe in aliens?

Eduardo: We are the Aliens.

Flynn: Don’t believe in ’em ’til I see ’em.

Liam: Of course I do, we can’t let our ego tell us we are the only ones in this universe when there’s way too many possibilities to have life out there. Maybe they already visited us or maybe not, most of us only truly believe what we see with our own eyes and I’m waiting for my turn.

Meet Tizane – ‘feel the venom simmering just below the surface’

<< Get tickets here >> Meet Tizane, our headline for our next show on Thursday 21/09 at Dublin Castle! About Tizane: Heavy Magazine said this – ‘You can almost feel the venom simmering just below the surface, and it sounds like this band has a bit of anger and angst to let loose on the world’. Tizane have been together for about a year and were an immediate good fit both artistically and emotionally. No surprise then that their music should sound so authentic and free flowing. Music and Television critic, Garry Bushell wrote in the Daily Mirror: ‘People compare lead singer, Tizane with Phoebe Bridgers but actually the group’s music is much bolder and rockier! They wrong foot you with gentle intros that grow into huge festival anthems.’ Garry is not alone in heaping plaudits on the band, and has recently been joined by Classic Rock Magazine, Planet Rock and even The Beeb. Band members are Tizane on guitar and vocals, Charlie Harris on lead guitar, Greg Titmarsh on drums and Nathan Gordon on bass.  Meet Tizane during our interview! 1) How did you get into music? Our parents introduced us to music from young. They always had their favourite records playing and would take us to see bands live where possible. 2) What bands inspired your style and how do you differ to your roots? Paramore, Billie Eilish, wolf Alice, Olivia Rodrigo 3) What would you say thrills your soul? Creating and connecting with fellow musicians 4) If you were to get stuck on a lonely Island, which would be the 3 albums you’ll take with you? Bob Marley – Exodus Pink Floyd – the dark side of the moon Mac miller – swimming 5) Beatles Vs Stones? Beatles 6) Do you believe in aliens? Obviously!!! Meet Clamber

Clamber ‘s unique blend of ‘armchair pop’ provides nods towards their early folk influences and love of indie pop, marrying lyrical vulnerability with a pared back, atmospheric tone to create a captivating and forward-thinking take on indie pop. Check them out on Instagram Meet Clamber during our interview! 1) How did you get into music? I didn’t really have a choice! My parents were playing albums in the house every second of my life. I have really vivid memories of Belle and Sebastian’s ‘If You’re Feeling Sinister’ and David Gray’s ‘White Ladder’ from when I was crawling about, as well as my Mum’s living room dance moves. There’s also a fantastic (or embarrassing, you choose the word) video of me singing Champagne Supernova at about 5 years old, swaggering round the mic like Liam Gallagher – you can find it on my Insta! 2) What bands inspired your style and how do you differ to your roots? I grew up as an acoustic guitar player, which had a massive impact on my playing and songwriting style. I started by learning strum-and-finger-picking styles from the likes of Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Daughter, Lewis Watson, Mumford and Sons, Newton Faulkner and Ben Howard, which also opened me up to open tunings and the world of folk pop. Much of my early songwriting took a similar form to those artists, but now I’m hooked on guitar pop and catchy choruses, akin to The 1975, Boygenius, The Beths, Darwin Deez and Will Joseph Cook. I still write all my ideas on acoustic guitar first, which has given us this unique blend of sounds that we have now, that we have branded armchair pop! We’ve also recently incorporated synth, and this defo comes from my love of AURORA. 3) What would you say thrills your soul? Brentford playing in the premier league every week, and last minute weekend trips to new cities. 4) If you were to get stuck on a lonely Island, which would be the 3 albums you’ll take with you? I’ve gone for 4 (SORRY)!! 1. Aurora – A Different Kind of Human 2. Sivu – Something on High 3. Freelance Whales – Weathervanes 4. Ghostpoet – Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam 5) Beatles Vs Stones? To be honest, I’m defo the wrong man to ask – not really a fan of either BUT I appreciate what both have done for music of course (before someone bites my head off)! I deferred to our bassist Charlie (far cooler, far more knowledgeable), and he’s said The Stones, so we’ll roll with that! 6) Do you believe in aliens?  The maths says there has to be, right?!?!
