How did you get into music?

I got into music through my parents’ record collection and was raised on the dulcet tones of The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Aretha Franklin, and Frank Sinatra. It was only a matter of time until I picked up a guitar and I’ve never looked back since; from my forming first band ‘The Yellow Wednesdays’ to touring and playing major festival stages it’s been quite a journey, and now getting to be so involved with the live music scene at Camden Live I’m really living the dream!

What are your favourite genres and bands?

I started with blues, jazz, soul, and classic rock as my musical grounding and as time went on I found myself playing in more indie and alternative rock bands. I love it all but heavy riffs with a funky beat is where my ear leads me the most these days! My current favourite bands are Royal Blood, HIMALAYAS, Arctic Monkeys, Cleopatrick, and Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes but historically i’ve found myself leaning on The Rolling Stones, Albert King, The Black Keys, Joe Bonamassa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Otis Redding, and Stevie Wonder. There are so many more I’d love to cover but I’ll leave it at that for now!

What would you say thrills your soul?

Being on stage in a new place, beer in hand, playing to a big crowd! That’s as good as it gets for me.

If you were to get stuck on a lonely Island, which would be the 3 albums you’ll take with you?

Tough question but Exile on Main St (The Rolling Stones), Royal Blood (Royal Blood), and El Camino (The Black Keys)

Beatles Vs Stones?

Stones! No question.

Do you believe in aliens?

I don’t believe in aliens but I do believe in the laws of probability, and they say that maybe the truth is out there, a bit, or maybe not… What was the question again?

How did you get into music?

Fortunately enough my parents have the best music taste! My dad is a massive AC/DC, Doors and Beatles fan whilst my mum adores Bowie, Prince and T-rex – I grew up dancing and singing to their songs and I’m extremely appreciative of their phenomenal taste of art in general, they opened the doors for me to fall into their footsteps to discover this passion! I early started to play the violin and loved classical music, then as a teenager played in an orchestra but wanted to be more rock’n’roll and learned a bit of drums and guitar, just recently, I went back to the original four strings and love playing the bass with my band! And now, being able to work with incredible bands in Camden’s thriving live music scene, connecting my passion for music and work is the best thing ever!

What are your favourite genres and bands?

The good old psychedelic, bluesy 60s and 70s Rock’n’Roll – I’m in love with The Doors and Led Zeppelin! I do also love heavy, slow riffs and bass lines in desert rock and doom metal. Black Sabbath and Kyuss are up in the very front but I’m also a big fan of Eddie’s, Chris’ and Layne’s 90s Seattle times.

What would you say thrills your soul?

Rock’n’Roll of course! But also any type of art and being able to be creative and cherish this feeling with other like minded people makes me incredibly happy. Anything related to growing together and learning from others, spending time with my loved ones, disconnecting and feeling grounded in nature, the smell of a book, turning the vinyl player on and listening to the crackling sound of the record, doing yoga and meditation.

If you were to get stuck on a lonely Island, which would be the 3 albums you’ll take with you?

The Doors – The Doors, Kyuss – Welcome to Sky Valley, King Crimson – In the Court of the Crimson King

Beatles Vs Stones?

For me, one of the very first doom songs was written by the Beatles (She’s so Heavy), I appreciate this song so much, but then I do really love a good bluesy boogie with the Stones, mhhh… I’ll go with The Doors!

Do you believe in aliens?

I don’t think we are alone here, there’s so much we don’t know. We’re just a bunch of monkeys on a rotating ball, surrounded by other balls in a solar system, somewhere in the milky way, swirling in a spiral through space, in one of 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe, so take it easy and enjoy the ride!

How did you get into music?

Music got into me. I don’t play or sing and have always been in awe when musicians can turn a space into an.amazing sound experience. Led Zeppelin at Madison Square garden in 1977 is still among the greatest shows I’ve ever seen. I prefer the humid haze of the grungy club where you talk to bands and thank thank them directly for a great set. Artist put it out there for us and we need to give something back.

What are your favourite genres and bands?

I love any kind of music. Guitar-based rock gets me going. Jazz, cuban, Mozart, blue whales – as long as it is loud! My favorite band – usually it’s the one I just discovered (and Hendrix).

What would you say thrills your soul?

rock and roll thrills my soul.-  and meeting musicians back stage, how epic is that!

If you were to get stuck on a lonely Island, which would be the 3 albums you’ll take with you?

Something to keep spirits up if I were stranded alone – Allman Brothers anthology and maybe Frampton Comes Alive. I’d bring Songs of the Humpback Whales also just in case that attracted any visitors.

Beatles Vs Stones?

Stones. White Album is killer though.

Do you believe in aliens?

We are all stardust. There’s more than we can understand all around us.
