Formed in 2021, this multi-national group consists of Edd Moreira, bassist Liam Pereira and guitarist Flynn Forgeau, all of whom are singers in the band. Drummer Maddie Hackett joined the band in May 2023.
Meet Belle Dame during our interview!
1) How did you get into music?
We all met at University.
Eduardo: Music was always a part of my life, even when I was a baby I wouldn’t stop singing and listening to it.
My Dad had his own projects and bands where I would attend his rehearsals and concerts. When I turned 9 I taught myself how to play the guitar. The rest is history.
Flynn: I started piano lessons when I was 10. When I was fourteen I attended a rehearsal my dad’s cover band and it inspired me to pick up the guitar. I played in a few band’s one of which was the Jazz band in college.
Liam:I was always into music, ever since my childhood days. It was and still is the best way to understand and cope with feelings.
2) What bands inspired your style and how do you differ to your roots?
Cage The Elephant, The Strokes, Interpol, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire. Our international diversity is where we split off from these bands. They are American and we are European.
Eduardo: I’m from Porto, Portugal.
Flynn: I’m half French half Welsh.
Liam: I’m half Madeiran Portuguese half English from Jersey. Some of my favourite artists are Beach house, grouper, joji, System of a Down, crystal castles and tame impala.
Maddie: I’m from Preston in Northern England.
3) What would you say thrills your soul?
Thrills!
Eduardo: Listeningto your own song after completion or being sung by someone else, has to be some of the best feelings ever.
Flynn: Performing is such a thrilling feeling for me. As well as live music I have a soft spot for Musical theatre and drama.
Liam: Chasing and understanding my own feelings. Sometimes I like feeling alive artificially while other times I find peace with myself by accepting and appreciating life.
4) If you were to get stuck on a lonely Island, which would be the 3 albums you’ll take with you?
Eduardo: Melophobia by Cage The Elephant, The Subburbs by Arcade Fire, Dark Side of The Moon by Pink Floyd
Flynn: Wasteland Baby by Hozier, Drones by Muse, Grace by Jeff Buckley. The guitar parts, vocals and music production value are the key aspects for me.
Liam: I would bring Ruins by Grouper, Depression Cherry by Beach House and Crystal Castles (II) by Crystal castles.
5) Beatles Vs Stones?
Eduardo: Pink Floyd. Although I respect both bands immensely. Their songs/sound doesn’t really get hooked on their music.
Flynn: Beatles. I know more songs by them and I value their creative songwriting more than that of the strokes.
Liam: It’s a really hard question but I got to go for the Beatles, I have so many pleasant memories with my grandma. She loves them.
6) Do you believe in aliens?
Eduardo: We are the Aliens.
Flynn: Don’t believe in ’em ’til I see ’em.
Liam: Of course I do, we can’t let our ego tell us we are the only ones in this universe when there’s way too many possibilities to have life out there. Maybe they already visited us or maybe not, most of us only truly believe what we see with our own eyes and I’m waiting for my turn.
Don’t miss Belle Dame and join us at our gig on
