Time to get your funk on. And do it to Cory Wong. Labeled by some the “Nile Rodgers of this age”, Cory Wong brings his awesome live show to Camden’s Electric Ballroom. Grab a ticket stat. You don’t want to miss this one.
Cory Wong was born in New York and raised in Minnesota. He’s loved music from a very early age – began taking piano lessons from the age of 9 and went professional by 20. His background is in jazz but he’s not one to stick to one genre. Bending and merging any number of influences and instruments he creates a sound that’s designed to get feet moving. A mix of jazz, soul, rock and pop.
His work blends improvisation with written and arranged music. A lot of it is instrumental but he’s not opposed to using interesting effects on vox. Altogether it’s a bit like being inside a musical cocktail shaker … in a good way.
Cory Wong has played with some pretty big names, too. He’s shared the stage with Vulfpeck, Stay Human and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert band. So hurry up – get your dancing shoes on and get gone.
