Johnny Osbourne is a top reggae legend, often called the ‘Dancehall Godfather’. With a career spanning over 50 years, his reggae sound runs from the bouncing rhythms of “Water Pumping” to the gorgeously melancholy and romance of “In Your Eyes”. His mellow, laid back vibes combine with poetic and romantic lyricism, arguably providing the perfect antidote to the stress in our lives. His band the Upper Cut Band is also made-up of top veterans deep in the reggae scene.

His heritage from Kingston brings the hope to get beyond problems. He encourages us to find love rather than hate. He is often dubbed back in new tracks from other artists, so you might already know his voice. Osbourne rose to prominence in the 70s and with his now-classic reggae, roots album Truth and Roots

It promises to be a night of rasta-infused tracks delivered with charming stage presence. With his classic reggae lilt and monster hits including “Ice Cream Love”, Johnny Osbourne brings a final drop of summer to the Jazz Cafe this Sunday.  So whether he’s one you’ve grown up with or you’re after a way to close out the weekend, a chance to catch this icon is a fine choice for a Sunday night.
