Kojey Radical Is Crying Cashmere

What I like about Kojey Radical is, you can’t place him. Yeah, he sticks pretty much in hip hop  / rap / grime though his recent release is more on the funk / hip hop side. It’s not the genre. As he put it, “you think I give a fuck about the genre?”

It’s his subject matter, it’s the vibe he brings to each song. Meaning he can be talking about a one night stand one moment, then he’s singing about depression, then how “Seeds of positivity will ensure that the beauty in all our differences will come together and grow for future generations”.

So, you know, it’s gunna be a pretty eclectic show.

“Water” has over 700k views. It’s more a short film than pop hit. He quotes Maya Angelou. So you know that’s good shit. And the sound is so rich because all of the instrumentation is recorded live. That’s just the best, isn’t it?

He’s in “love with your mind”… like that. Plantlife fans will be pleased, Kojey Radical is sounding like he’s on the funk spectrum with “Cashmere tears”.

Want to see an artist that has something to say for once? Go see Kojey Radical at the Electric Ballroom on April 2nd.
