Punk n Roll Rendez-vous 2020
Last month we had some pretty epic music live at the Unicorn, streamed to the world. Here are the results of an amazing time. We’ve missed live music, and this was a testament to the fact that the show can and will still go on. So thanks so much to the Unicorn for giving us a heck of a musical experience, all available still on the Healthy Junkies’ facebook page.
Here are some shots from the fest…
Jeremy Padilla is gritty, like whiskey and bourbon mixed with sand. He plays a mean slide guitar.
Fantazmaz – the lead, Thamila Zenthofer, wandered round the stage like a sexy scorpion with soaring vocals, dark bass and guitar ensemble, grungey, with some sweet riffs…
Healthy Junkies – Naturally, stole the show!
Polly Pik Pocketz – so satisfying to listen to… stick it to anyone who’s pissed you off, especially fake corporations or politicians! Check our interview with them from last year.
Yur Mum – deranged shouting (in a good way) … is exactly what I want from a duo… they play tight, and they bring it, with screams of passion … love the attitude from this band. They take it so serious, they get sweaty and ran out of breath their set was so intense! Yessss!
Compared by the legendary Bill Dury, who ended the three days with a reminder of why everyone is still going at it (even when you can’t have a real audience there just yet…)
“Times have been hard, but you know what’s harder than that? It’s forgetting times like this… because they’re unforgettable (…) We are here to be human, and to connect and [be] loving, and bold and honest and brilliant… that’s what we live for.”
Punk n Roll should be on next year, hopefully with a little less distance and a little more of a mosh pit.
