I did not expect the band to be this good and ready on a rainy weeknight. Upbeat and fresh out of the box, I was there to see the first gig for new rock band, the Heat. Marco Simoncelli (guitar) has the sway and flow of Keith Richards alongside a fuzzy slant, which smells of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
Time was kept by drummer Maurizio, who channels the vibes of Brian Chase (from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Bass got a cool tone and fuzz with limitless energy spurted out by lead singer, Jon Dodd, who convinced me he was doing this gig for himself as much as for the audience.
The Heat seem ready for big things. They got every bod in the house jumping to their rock riffs and sweet energy. The dancey response from the crowd for this first time gig was unstoppable.
