One of rock’s best-kept secrets is back. From jamming with RHCP in high school to recording with Queens of the Stone Age, Alain Johannes has worked with the legends (Chris Cornell called him “a wizard”). The list of musicians he’s worked with reads like an encyclopedia of California rock history: Chris Cornell, Them Crooked Vultures, PJ harvey, Sound City Players, No Doubt, Mark Lanegan, Jimmy Eat World, Queens of the Stone Age, Brody Dalle and Arctic Monkeys… Now he returns to Camden for a heavy-hitting, soul-shaking show, backed by Scotland’s rising fuzz-lords Earl of Hell (can highly recommend, saw the lads recently when they supported Brant Bjork and Masters of Reality) – whose debut album he co-produced. Last year’s Underworld gig was apparently wild, so I can’t wait to check it out this year!
