Fresh from an international tour of 50 cities, Fontaines D.C. will hit London like a meteor this month. The post-punk indie rock band from Dublin have quickly made a name for themselves after their debut record, Dogrel, hit the music scene in April this year.

Fontaines D.C. are made up of five Dublin lads with old-school sensibilities – they first met and bonded over Joycean poetry in a Dublin pub, reciting verses to each other over pints, before deciding to form a band. These guys transformed that passion for poetry into imaginative, solid lyrics which they combine with a regional vibe, strong Dublin-accented vocals, and a clear awareness of musical heritage for a unique, gritty, modern take on old-school sound.

They’re inspired by music greats like Joy Division, The Cure, The Beatles as well as trad Irish music. The band has created a nostalgic, intimate sound featuring smooth guitar tracks with great drumbeats. Their music comes across as complex and rooted in identity – a strong blend of post-punk, alt rock, indie, garage rock forms a sophisticated sound with a specific Dublin slant to it. These Irish lads descend on the 02 Forum this month to grace us non-Dubliners with their high-energy, messy live shows – get yourself down there to be part of the mayhem.
