Slim Blue formed during lockdown, and have since written 40 songs, released two EPs and performed streams to over 9,000 people stuck at home!  The duo, Reece Roughley and Georgina Inkler, will be featuring on our stream on Feb 23rd and have just released their new EP.

This is an EP to listen to on a spring day with the top down or your windows open as you drive through a mountain range. Think Corrs meets Heal the Last Stand meets Stevie Nicks.

The first track lilts into psychedelic folk, a melancholy track called ‘Avalanche’. “You make me feel alive like a wild rose in bloom” – their honest and disarming lyrics remind me that we all want to feel this way.

‘Black and White’ is the stand out track. There’s something hypnotic and relaxing about it, with healthy lilting harmonies and reassuring words… “There isn’t many things you can’t do right, baby but, you’re soon to learn that things aren’t black and white, I once heard…”

There’s something very reassuring about the last track, as well. Maybe it’s the harmonic crescendo at the end, or simply the honest tone of her voice, or the hat tip to musical theatre. Whatever it is, I like it.

Excited to see them perform on the stream and to hear more about their musical process and how they created this release.
