Niches have a catchy retro vibe that’s appealingly innocent. Their straightforward lyrics and hooks remind me of the best of 60s CD I used to listen to in my room, dancing on the bed. They will be playing for us in the near future so we asked them a few questions to find out a bit more about them before they light up the stage…
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
Seeing the reaction on people’s faces and the feeling it gives us when we play. The way it allows us to express our creativity.
Describe your favourite and least favourite part about being a musician.
Favourite part of being a musician for us would have to be when people really like our music and remember our songs and can sing along. The least favourite part would have to be the headaches from long rehearsals *laughs*
Which instrument is your least favorite to play and how do you make sure you play it well?
We don’t have any instruments we don’t like to play, as were all passionate about the ones that we use, but to make sure we are good at them we just practice practice practice!!
Can you make a 3 song playlist of your music and share a few words about the tracks for people?
Fireworks is a love song originally written for Lilli’s uncle’s wedding. A love at first sight romance, just like in the movies. Then developed by the band it into a emotive song for couples everywhere to reminisce on the moment they fell in love.
Honey Honey is a song about a mother singing to her younger child, wishing for a greater life than the one they’ve been born into.
Beautiful Daydream is a song offering the listener an escape from life’s madness that surrounds us all. Enabling them to step back and feel safe within their own imagination.
Niches will be joining us at the Dublin Castle on the 12th of September for our alldayer. It’s going to be epic!
