If you’re into your Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarret or Azymuth, then The New Mastersounds might well be for you. Imagine classic jazz fusion mixed in with some chunky basslines and keyboard riffs. You are close to understanding how timelessly cool this band is. Close. But you can only really get it by hearing them.
And this gig does us one better, with the addition of Lamar Williams Jr. (Son of the late Lamar Williams Sr, of the Allman Brothers). Guys, this guy can SING. He’s got this velvety, R n B type of voice, and it fits like a glove with The New Mastersounds’ smooth sound. Just a warning, that if you’re anything like me, you might get slightly addicted to listening to him.
Check out The New Mastersounds and Lamar’s collab ‘Trouble”, for 5 minutes and 19 seconds of pure groove, and then get your ass on seat for this completely unmissable show.
