The dark beats and tortured screams traditionally associated with metal mingle with moments of calm tenderness in melancholy guitar and piano tones. Like many metal and heavy music singers, vocalist George Clark’s trademark howl, ranging in expression from angry to anguished, is a recurring feature in their music. With Clarke’s piercing voice, beautiful guitar riffs, and haunting lyrics invoking the pain and pleasure of human experience, Deafheaven have created a soundscape that is at once arresting and dreamlike.

Their musical style famously breaks boundaries; their sound being a mix of black metal, post-rock, post-metal and shoegaze. With several critically acclaimed albums under their belt, with special mention to their landmark second album Sunbather, their constantly evolving sound and focus is impossible to pin down – their records all have a different sound, and part of their musical appeal is their ability to blend the heavy with the soft.

Currently on a European tour, this Grammy-nominated group will hit London with a scream – and you do not want to miss it.
