Thank God For Phoebe Bridgers
Advance warning! Phoebe is bringing her folk / rock / indie sweetness to town. She’s got this smooth, haunting sexily effortless singing voice. You probably already know her debut album, Stranger in the Alps, voted the best album of 2017 by Pebbal.
She’s no wallflower. At a gig in Houston last year, as an intro for her song Demi Moore she said, “This next song is about sexting, which you’re supposed to tell people not to do. But I’m for sexting, you can put that on a shirt”.
On Saturday 2nd of November, the super talented Phoebe Bridgers will be headlining the one-day Mirrors Festival at Camden’s historic Roundhouse venue. As usual we’ve been kept on our toes with the British weather. At least you can let Phoebe’s heavenly voice make you forget everything for a while. The Roundhouse is this year’s new home for the sell-out festival, previously held in Hackney. Not that we’re competing.
“OMG, I love this one!” is the only logical reaction to the tracks “Motion Sickness” and “Scott Street” reaching your ear holes. And you’ll definitely recognise a few from some of your fave TV series – ABC’s show Castle and FOX hit, Lethal Weapon.
Phoebe sounds like all of my favourite artists. If you like Hundred Waters, Okay Kaya or Daughter, you won’t want to miss her. She’s performed all over and is set to tour solo around Australia in 2020. And thank God, she’s coming to us first.
